For the past few weeks I’ve been trying to find clarity in what my research truly is…
Is in theory?
Is it pedagogy?
Is it creating?
It’s hard for me to narrow down and pin point exactly what my interests are, but I think I’m starting to form it into words:
While studying at OSU, I want my creative research to be focused on learning how to make interactive narrative dance performances where audience members choose how a storyline unfolds. Accompanied with projection mapping, costuming, and video designs I want to create environments that dance with the performers bringing viewers to captivating interactive worlds. In order to achieve this goal, I will first need to learn how to build projections, design costumes, edit films, and research ways to incorporate audience input into a performance.
Being a graduate teaching associate for the university, I plan to expand my teaching practice by obtaining a Pilates mat certification and a personal training certification. With these, I can teach more somatic based techniques while being able to create cross-training routines and workouts targeted specifically for dancers.
My passion for teaching and creating was the reason I chose to pursue a master’s degree, and with my time in this program I plan to achieve these interests!
